Jones County is a county in Iowa, United States, on the Wapsipinicon River in the northeastern part of the state, about 30 miles northwest of Cedar Rapids. It had a population of 20,646 at the 2020 census and covers 577 square miles (1,490 km2), of which 576 square miles are land, centred near 42\u00b007\u2032N 91\u00b008\u2032W.<\/p>\n

Anamosa is the county seat, and its postal code is 52205. The county has 9 incorporated cities, 2 census-designated places, more than a dozen smaller unincorporated communities, and 17 civil townships. Jones County is part of the Cedar Rapids metropolitan statistical area and observes Central time.<\/p>\n

Jones County’s population is split among nine cities — from Anamosa and Monticello down to Onslow and Morley — two census-designated places, and a scatter of unincorporated crossroads and rural hamlets that never grew into towns. Most of the incorporated places sit along the Wapsipinicon River or the U.S. 151 corridor; the unincorporated communities below survive mainly as township names or historical post-office sites.<\/p>\n
