Moultrie County is a county in Illinois, United States, in the east-central part of the state along the Kaskaskia River. It had a population of 14,526 at the 2020 census and covers 344 square miles (890 km2), of which 336 square miles are land and 8.5 square miles are water, centred near 39°38′N 88°37′W.<\/p>\n

Sullivan is the county seat, and its postal code is 61951. The county has one city, five villages, one census-designated place, and a scatter of small unincorporated communities, spread across eight townships. Moultrie County sits in the Central Time zone; its FIPS code is 17139.<\/p>\n
