Toombs County is a county in Georgia, United States, in the southeastern part of the state along the Ohoopee River. It had a population of 27,030 at the 2020 census and covers 371 square miles (960 km2) centred near 32°07′N 82°20′W.<\/p>\n

Lyons is the county seat, and its postal code is 30436. The county has two incorporated cities plus a handful of small unincorporated communities, and it sits in the Eastern time zone. Toombs County is part of the Vidalia, Georgia Micropolitan Statistical Area.<\/p>\n

Vidalia is the county’s largest city by far but only part of its footprint lies in Toombs County — the rest sits across the line in Montgomery County. Santa Claus, population 176, was founded in 1941 by a former mayor of Lyons who renamed the community for the holiday, and it still runs a themed post office every December.<\/p>\n
