Vanderburgh County is a county in Indiana, which is a state in the United States.

As of 2010, there were 179,703 people living there. Evansville is the county seat.

However, it is the eighth smallest county by size in Indiana and the smallest in southwestern Indiana, with only 236 square miles (610 km2) of land. In 2019, there were 181,451 people living there.

On January 7, 1818, Gibson, Posey, and Warrick counties came together to make Vanderburgh County.

It was named after Captain Henry Vanderburgh, a judge for the Indiana Territory who had served in the Revolutionary War.

According to the 2010 census, the county covers 236.33 square miles (612.1 km2), of which 233.48 square miles (604.7 km2) (or 98.79%) is land and 2.86 square miles (7.4 km2) (or 1.21%) is water.
