Preble County is a county in Ohio, United States.

The population was 40,999 as of the 2020 census, a 3.0% decrease from the 42,270 recorded in the 2010 census.

Eaton is the county seat.

On February 15, 1808, portions of Butler and Montgomery Counties were combined to form the county.

It is named after Edward Preble, a naval officer who served during the American Revolutionary War and fought against the Barbary Pirates.

The county has a total area of 426 square miles (1,100 km2), of which 424 square miles (1,100 km2) is land and 2.3 square miles (6.0 km2) (0.5%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
