Lafourche Parish (French: Paroisse de la Fourche) is a parish in the American state of Louisiana. Thibodaux is the parish seat.
The parish was established in 1807.
It was originally part of the Lafourche Interior Parish, which included the current parishes of Lafourche and Terrebonne.
The parish of Lafourche was named after the Bayou Lafourche.
Because of their architecture and rich history, city buildings have been featured in television and movies, such as Fletch Lives. Its population was 97,557 according to the 2020 census.
The parish has a total area of 1,474 square miles (3,820 km2), of which 1,068 square miles (2,770 km2) is land and 406 square miles (1,050 km2) (28%) is water, according to the United States Census Bureau.
The Gulf of Mexico is to the parish’s south.
