In the eastern part of West Virginia, in the Shenandoah Valley, is where Jefferson County is.

It is the U.S. state of West Virginia’s most eastern county.

As of the census in 2020, there were 57,701 people living there.

Charles Town is the county seat.

The county was started in 1801, and it is now part of the greater Washington area.

The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county covers 212 square miles (550 km2), of which 210 square miles (540 km2) are land and 2.0 square miles (5.2 km2) are water, or 1%.
