Harvey County is a county in the U.S. state of Kansas. Its county code is HV.

As of the 2020 census, there were 34,024 people living in the county.

Newton is the county center and the city with the most people.

The Kansas Territory was set up in 1854. In 1861, Kansas became the 34th state in the United States.

In 1871, the Emporia to Newton main line was built by the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway.

Harvey County was made in 1872. It was named for James M. Harvey, who was the fifth governor of Kansas.

The county has a total area of 541 square miles (1,400 km2), of which 540 square miles (1,400 km2) are land and 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2) (0.2%) are water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The county is crossed by the Little Arkansas River.
