Becker County is a county in Minnesota, United States.

The population was 35,183 at the time of the 2020 census.

Detroit Lakes is the county seat.

The county includes a portion of the White Earth Indian Reservation.

The county was established in 1858 and incorporated in 1871.

Becker County was established on March 18, 1858.

It was named after George Loomis Becker, one of three men elected to the United States Congress when Minnesota became a state.

Becker chose to stay behind because Minnesota could only send two, and he was promised a county named after him.

The county covers 1,445 square miles (3,740 km2), of which 1,315 square miles (3,410 km2) is land and 130 square miles (340 km2) is water (9.0%).
