    Geography<\/h2>\n

    Sefwi-Wiawso lies in the centre of the Western North Region. The town of Sefwi Wiawso stands on a ridge, and the land around it falls away into forested valleys drained by tributaries of the Tano and Bia rivers. Rainfall is high and spread over two seasons, giving the moist semi-deciduous forest that covers the uncleared parts of the municipality. It shares boundaries with Bodi<\/a> to the north-west, Sefwi Akontobra<\/a> to the west and Bibiani\/Ahwiaso\/Bekwai<\/a> to the east.<\/p>\n

    Economy and Local Life<\/h2>\n

    Cocoa is the main cash crop and the reason for the density of small settlements across the municipality. Oil palm, rubber, plantain, cocoyam and cassava are also grown, and citrus does well on the lower slopes. Sefwi Wiawso town holds the main market, the traditional council of the Sefwi Wiawso state, a hospital, senior high schools and the regional offices, so trade and public-sector work employ a large share of townspeople. Sawmilling and small-scale gold mining are present in parts of the district. Market days draw traders from surrounding villages and from across the regional boundary.<\/p>\n

    Getting There<\/h2>\n

    Sefwi Wiawso is reached from Kumasi by road through Bibiani and Asawinso, a journey of roughly three to four hours. From Accra, most travellers route through Kumasi. The town is the transport hub for the region, with services running on to Juaboso, Enchi, Bodi and Akontombra.<\/p>\n
