    Geography<\/h2>\n

    Ketu South occupies Ghana’s south-eastern corner. The Gulf of Guinea forms its southern shore and the Togo border its eastern edge, with the Aflao–Lomé crossing at the point where the two meet. Between the beach ridge and the interior lie lagoons, salt flats and low sandy ground, and the shoreline near Agavedzi and Amutinu has suffered heavy sea erosion.<\/p>\n

    The municipality borders Ketu North<\/a> to the north and lies south-east of Akatsi South<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    Economy and Local Life<\/h2>\n

    Cross-border trade sets the pace. Aflao is one of Ghana’s busiest frontier posts, and the markets at Aflao and Denu handle goods, currency exchange and transport in volume. Denu also serves as the administrative centre.<\/p>\n

    Along the coast, marine fishing and fish smoking are the mainstay, with shallot, cassava, maize, vegetable and coconut farming on the sandy soils behind the shore. Salt winning from the lagoons is a long-established seasonal trade.<\/p>\n

    Ewe is the main language, with English in schools and offices and French widely understood because of daily traffic to Togo. Fishing communities work to the tides and the season, while trade at Aflao runs every day of the week. Funerals, church services and coastal festivals are the fixed points of the social calendar.<\/p>\n

    Getting There<\/h2>\n

    Denu and Aflao sit at the eastern end of the Accra–Aflao highway, about 180 kilometres from Accra and roughly three hours by road. Buses and shared taxis run the route continuously, and travellers crossing to Lomé use the Aflao post.<\/p>\n
