Ledzokuku–Krowor is a coastal municipal district in the Greater Accra Region of
\nGhana, covering the Ga towns of Teshie and Nungua east of Accra. Its capital is Teshie. In 2018 the
\nmunicipality was divided in two: Ledzokuku Municipal, based on Teshie, and Krowor Municipal, based on
\nNungua.<\/p>\n

Ledzokuku Municipal recorded 217,304 people at the 2021 census, against 125,873 for the undivided
\nmunicipality in 2010. Krowor is now counted separately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

    Geography<\/h2>\n

    The municipality runs along the Atlantic shore between Accra and Tema, a narrow
    \nstrip of built-up coast about 15 km east of central Accra. Teshie and Nungua are old Ga coastal
    \ntowns, now joined into a continuous urban belt by estate and suburban development inland of the beach
    \nroad.<\/p>\n

    The land is flat, with the Kpeshie and Sakumo lagoons at either end of the stretch. It adjoins
    \nAccra<\/a> to the west and
    \n    Tema<\/a> to the east, with
    \n    Adenta<\/a> inland to the north.<\/p>\n

    Economy and Local Life<\/h2>\n

    Fishing remains central to Teshie and Nungua, worked from the beach with canoes, and
    \nfish smoking and trading employ many households. Both towns have large daily markets, and retail,
    \ntransport and small workshops line the main road.<\/p>\n

    Teshie is known nationally for its carpenters’ figurative coffins, carved to order and sold well
    \nbeyond Ghana. Much of the working population commutes to Accra or Tema, and estate housing in the
    \nGreda and Okpoi Gonno areas has filled land that was open a generation ago. The Teshie military
    \ntraining camp and the workshops off the Spintex road are the other large local employers, and the
    \nbeach frontage supports weekend trade.<\/p>\n

    Getting There<\/h2>\n

    The Teshie–Nungua beach road links the municipality to La and central
    \nAccra in one direction and to the Tema motorway roundabout in the other. The Spintex road serves the
    \ninland edge and carries most of the commuter traffic towards the airport and East Legon.<\/p>\n

    Trotros run constantly from Accra’s Tema Station and from La, and shared taxis work the internal
    \nroutes between Teshie, Nungua and the estates. Kotoka International Airport is about 10 km
    \naway.<\/p>\n
