    Geography<\/h2>\n

    Ga West lies north-west of Accra, on the inland side of the built-up city. The
    \nterrain is the low Accra plain rising gently towards the Akuapem foothills, with the Densu River and
    \nits tributaries draining the western part of the municipality. Amasaman sits on the Accra–Nsawam
    \nroad; Pokuase, Afiaman and Amanfro lie along the same corridor.<\/p>\n

    The municipality borders the Eastern Region to the north.
    \nGa South<\/a> lies to the south-west,
    \n    Ga East<\/a> to the east, and the
    \nbuilt-up wards of     Accra<\/a> to the
    \nsouth. Villages that were farming settlements a generation ago are now commuter suburbs.<\/p>\n

    Economy and Local Life<\/h2>\n

    Ga West’s economy is peri-urban. Much of the workforce commutes into Accra, and
    \nhousing development, building supply, transport and small-scale retail dominate local business.
    \nLand sales and estate development have reshaped many of the older villages.<\/p>\n

    Farming survives on the outer fringe: cassava, maize, vegetables, pineapple and poultry supplying
    \nAccra’s markets. Stone quarrying and sand winning are common along the northern edge, and Amasaman’s
    \nmarket handles produce from the surrounding villages and from the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n

    Getting There<\/h2>\n

    The Accra–Nsawam road, part of the highway to Kumasi, runs through the
    \nmunicipality and past the Pokuase interchange, which links it to the Accra ring road system. Amasaman
    \nis about 20 km from central Accra.<\/p>\n

    Trotros run from Achimota, Circle and Lapaz stations. Traffic on the Nsawam road is heavy at
    \ncommuter hours, so travel times vary widely.<\/p>\n
