    Geography<\/h2>\n

    The municipality occupies the southern tip of the Eastern Region, on the plain between Accra and the Akuapem ridge. The Densu River runs through Nsawam, and the surrounding land is flat to gently rolling, with farms giving way to housing as Accra’s growth pushes north. Nsawam and Adoagyiri have effectively grown into one town. It borders Akuapim South<\/a> to the east, Suhum Kraboa Coaltar<\/a> to the north and Ayensuano<\/a> to the north-west, with the Greater Accra Region to the south.<\/p>\n

    The Densu supplies water downstream to parts of Accra, so pollution and sand winning along the river are recurring public concerns here.<\/p>\n

    Economy and Local Life<\/h2>\n

    Nsawam supplies Accra. Pineapple, pawpaw, mango, citrus, cassava, plantain and vegetables are grown across the municipality and trucked to city markets daily, and fruit processing and juicing operate locally. The town is known nationally for its bread, sold from roadside stalls to passing highway traffic. Its position on the Accra to Kumasi road supports haulage, workshops and a large daily market, and commuting to Accra is common for those living in the newer housing areas.<\/p>\n

    Industrial and warehousing sites have spread along the highway, and land near the road now sells at prices closer to Accra’s than to the rest of the region. The municipal assembly is based in Nsawam, which also holds the main market, hospital and lorry station.<\/p>\n

    Getting There<\/h2>\n

    Nsawam sits on the N6 Accra to Kumasi highway roughly 30 km from central Accra, a drive of about an hour depending on traffic. Trotros run constantly from Accra, and the road continues north to Suhum and Bunso. Koforidua is about 55 km away to the north-east.<\/p>\n
