    Geography<\/h2>\n

    The municipality is the most built-up part of the Central Region, effectively the western edge of the Accra conurbation. Ga South in Greater Accra lies to the east, Awutu Senya<\/a> to the north and west, and Gomoa East<\/a> to the south-west. The land is low coastal savanna, and open ground between the old villages has largely been taken by housing. Rainfall is low and the original vegetation was coastal grass and thicket. The older settlements of Opeikuma, Ofankor and Bletum have been absorbed into the built-up area around Kasoa.<\/p>\n

    Economy and Local Life<\/h2>\n

    Trade drives the local economy. Kasoa’s market is one of the largest in southern Ghana and runs daily, supplied by farms across the Central and Greater Accra regions. Transport, small manufacturing, building supply, and services for commuters working in Accra fill out the rest. Farming survives on the fringes, mainly vegetables, maize and poultry for the town’s own market. Rents, transport fares and market stalls are the everyday cash economy here, and the municipality’s population growth has outrun its water, drainage and road capacity.<\/p>\n

    Getting There<\/h2>\n

    Kasoa sits on the Accra\u2013Cape Coast highway about 30 km west of central Accra, and an interchange carries the highway over the market junction. Trotros run constantly between Kasoa and Accra’s Kaneshie and Circle stations. Winneba is about 25 km further west along the same road. Within the municipality, shared taxis link the market to Opeikuma, Ofankor and the newer housing areas off the highway.<\/p>\n
