    Geography<\/h2>\n

    The district lies inland of the Cape Coast shoreline, though a short stretch of coast at Moree and Mouri falls within Asebu country. Cape Coast Metropolitan sits to the south-west and Mfantsiman to the east, while Ajumako\/Enyan\/Essiam<\/a> lies to the north-east and Ekumfi<\/a> further east along the coast. The Kakum river drains the western side, and much of the district is semi-deciduous forest thinned by decades of farming. Rainfall is heavier here than on the coast east of Cape Coast, and the ground is broken by low ridges. The southern edge is close enough to the sea for coastal breezes and lagoon fishing.<\/p>\n

    Economy and Local Life<\/h2>\n

    Food farming dominates: cassava, maize, plantain, cocoyam and vegetables, with oil palm and citrus as cash crops and some cocoa in the wetter north. Fishing communities at Moree and Mouri land and smoke fish for the Cape Coast market. Abura-Dunkwa holds the district market and houses the assembly, while Asuansi is known regionally for its farm institute and secondary schools. Palm oil pressing, gari making and charcoal burning are common village trades, and many households send produce to Cape Coast’s Kotokuraba market each week.<\/p>\n

    Getting There<\/h2>\n

    Abura-Dunkwa sits about 20 km north of Cape Coast on the road to Twifo Praso. Shared taxis and trotros run the route through the day from Cape Coast’s Kotokuraba station. From Accra, drivers take the Cape Coast highway and turn north near Cape Coast, roughly a three-hour trip. Feeder roads run east from Abura-Dunkwa to the Asebu and Kwamankese villages, and north toward the Twifo forest country.<\/p>\n
