    Geography<\/h2>\n

    Jaman North occupies the north-western corner of the Bono Region. Its western edge is the international boundary with C\u00f4te d’Ivoire, and Sampa sits on that frontier as an official crossing point. The land is gently rolling savanna woodland thinning northward, with seasonal streams that run only in the rains. Rainfall follows the tropical continental pattern, one wet season from about April to October and a dry harmattan spell from December to February.<\/p>\n

    Neighbouring districts inside the region include Jaman South<\/a> to the south and Tain<\/a> to the east. Berekum<\/a> lies further south-east.<\/p>\n

    Economy and Local Life<\/h2>\n

    Farming carries the district. Cashew has become the leading cash crop, grown alongside yam, maize, cassava, groundnut and plantain. Trade is the second pillar: Sampa’s position on the Ivorian border supports a steady cross-border business in foodstuffs, livestock and manufactured goods, and its market draws traders from both sides. Smaller settlements such as Duadaso Number One and Goka serve as collection points for farm produce.<\/p>\n

    Cashew buying runs from February into May and sets the pace of the local cash year. Most holdings are small and family-worked, and yam and maize are stored for sale later in the dry season. Charcoal burning, tailoring, mechanics and transport make up much of the non-farm work in the larger settlements.<\/p>\n

    Getting There<\/h2>\n

    From Sunyani, the regional capital, drivers reach Sampa by road through Berekum and Drobo, a trip of roughly three hours. Sampa also connects onward into C\u00f4te d’Ivoire at the border post. Shared taxis and minibuses run daily from Sunyani, Berekum and Drobo. The road is tarred for most of the way, with rougher feeder roads serving the outlying villages.<\/p>\n
