    Geography<\/h2>\n

    Nkoranza South sits in the middle of the Bono East Region, south-east of Techiman, in the forest-savanna transition zone. The country is gently rolling farmland with grassland, scattered trees and remnant patches of semi-deciduous forest. Streams drain east and south into the Volta basin. Rain comes in two seasons, with the heavier peak between April and July.<\/p>\n

    Its regional neighbours include Nkoranza North<\/a>, which was carved from the same territory, Techiman<\/a> to the north-west and Atebubu-Amantin<\/a> to the east.<\/p>\n

    Economy and Local Life<\/h2>\n

    Farming employs most working households. Maize, yam, cassava, plantain, groundnuts, cowpea and vegetables are the main crops, and cashew has become the leading cash earner. Livestock rearing, especially poultry, sheep and goats, is widespread, and firewood and charcoal supply nearby towns.<\/p>\n

    Nkoranza holds the municipal assembly, the main market and lorry station, secondary schools and a hospital that has long served the surrounding districts. Much of the produce grown here is sold on into the Techiman market, roughly 30 kilometres away, and traders from Nkoranza work that market weekly.<\/p>\n

    Getting There<\/h2>\n

    Nkoranza lies on the road between Techiman and Ejura, which links the district south-west to Kumasi and east towards Atebubu. From Techiman the drive takes about 40 minutes on tarred road. Shared taxis and minibuses run frequently from Techiman and Kumasi, and vehicles for Busunya and the northern communities leave from the Nkoranza lorry station.<\/p>\n
