    Geography<\/h2>\n

    Ejura Sekyedumase lies at the northern edge of the Ashanti Region, where the closed forest gives way to the transition zone of grass, scattered trees and open farmland. The municipality runs north towards the Afram arm of the Volta Lake, and the land is flatter and drier than most of Ashanti.<\/p>\n

    Ejura town stands on the Kumasi–Atebubu road. Neighbouring districts include Mampong<\/a> to the south, Sekyere Afram Plains<\/a> to the east and Offinso North<\/a> to the south-west.<\/p>\n

    Economy and Local Life<\/h2>\n

    This is one of Ghana’s grain districts. Maize is the leading crop, followed by yam, cassava, groundnut, cowpea and vegetables. The transition climate suits mechanised farming, so tractors and larger holdings are more common here than in the forest districts to the south. Cattle, sheep and goats are kept in numbers, and Fulani herders graze the open country.<\/p>\n

    Ejura market is the trading centre. Grain buyers come up from Kumasi and down from the north, and the town also handles yam, livestock and farm inputs. Grain storage, haulage, milling and agro-input retail all follow from that trade. Charcoal burning and firewood cutting are common in the savanna fringes.<\/p>\n

    The municipality is more mixed than most of Ashanti. Asante Twi is the common language, but the grain trade and cattle keeping have drawn settlers from northern Ghana and from neighbouring countries, and several communities are largely Muslim. Ejura’s zongo quarters, mosques and northern food stalls reflect that.<\/p>\n

    Getting There<\/h2>\n

    Ejura is about 100 km north of Kumasi on the road towards Atebubu and Yeji, a run of roughly two hours. From Accra, travellers take the Accra–Kumasi highway and then head north through Mampong or Nkenkaasu.<\/p>\n

    Buses and trotros run daily between Ejura, Kumasi and Mampong. Sekyedumase and the outlying farming villages are served by shared taxis and by feeder roads that carry grain traffic in the harvest season.<\/p>\n
