Towns and Villages in Southern Zone

The Southern Zone (Tigrinya: ዞባ ደቡባዊ) is located in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia. The Southern Zone is surrounded by the Amhara Region to the south and west, the Central Zone to the north, and the Afar Region to the east.

The Southern Zone includes towns and cities such as Maychew, Korem, Zata, and Alamata. The South Eastern Zone was divided from the Southern Zone.

According to the Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia’s (CSA) 2007 Census, this Zone has a total population of 1,006,504, with 497,280 males and 509,224 women, and 125,787 (or 12.5%) living in cities.
