Towns and Villages in North Western Zone
The North Western Zone (Tigrinya: ዞባ ሰሜን ምዕራብ) is a zone in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia.
It is bordered by the Central Zone to the east, the Amhara Region to the south, the Western Zone to the west, and Eritrea to the north.
The Zone is divided into six woredas (districts), namely Asgede, Tsimbla, La’ilay Adiyabo, Medebay Zana, Tahtay Adiyabo, Tahtay Koraro, and Tselemti.
The zone’s major towns and cities include Shire, Sheraro, Inda Aba Guna, Selekleka, Adi Daero, and May Tsebri. The North Western Zone was separated from the Western Zone in 2005.
According to the Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia’s (CSA) 2007 Census, this Zone has a total population of 736,805, with 368,254 men and 368,551 women, and 107,999 (14.66%) living in urban areas.
