Wolayita, or Wolaita, is an administrative zone in Ethiopia.
Wolayta is one of the 16 Zonal Administrations in Ethiopia’s Southern Region, around 300 kilometers (190 miles) south of Addis Ababa.
According to the Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia’s (CSA) 2021 population forecast, the zone’s total population is 6,142,063 (in an area of 4,208.64 square kilometers (1,624.96 square miles).
Females account for 3,115,050 of the zone’s total population, while males make up 3,027,013. Wolayita’s population density is 520.8 per square kilometer.
