Amaro Zone is located in Ethiopia’s South Ethiopia Regional State.

According to the 2007 Census conducted by the Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia (CSA), this zone has a total population of 149,231, with 75,202 males and 74,029 women.

Amaro has a population density of 104.93 per square kilometer and a total area of 1,522.16 square kilometers; 8,633 people, or 5.78%, live in cities.
