East Hararghe (Oromo: Harargee Bahaa) Af Soomaali (Harargheda Bariga) is a zone of Ethiopia’s Oromia Region.
East Hararghe Zone is surrounded by Bale to the southwest, West Hararghe Zone to the west, Dire Dawa to the north, and the Somali Region to the north and east. The Harari Region is an enclave inside this zone.
According to the Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia’s 2007 Census, this Zone has a total population of 2,723,850, a 48.79% increase over the 1994 census, with 1,383,198 men and 1,340,652 women; with an area of 17,935.40 square kilometers, East Hararge has a population density of 151.87.
