Towns and Villages in Itang (woreda)

Itang is a woreda in Gambela Region of Ethiopia. Because Itang is not part of any zone in the Gambela Region, it is classified as a Special woreda, which is an administrative unit equivalent to an autonomous territory.

It is surrounded by the Anuak Zone to the south and southeast, the Nuer Zone to the west, South Sudan to the northwest, and the Oromia Region to the north; the Alwero River forms part of the southern boundary. Itang is Itang’s major town.

According to the 2007 Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia (CSA) census, this woreda has a total population of 35,686, a 190.14% increase over the 1994 census, with 17,955 men and 17,731 women; with an area of 2,188.34 square kilometers, Itang has a population density of 16.31.
