Towns and Villages in Agew Awi Zone

Agew Awi (Amharic: አገው አዊ) is a zone in Ethiopia’s Amhara Region. It is called after the Awi sub-group of the Agaw people, who inhabit in this Zone.

Agew Awi Zone is bounded by Benishangul-Gumuz Region to the west, North Gondar Zone to the north, and West Gojjam to the east.

Injibara is the administrative center of Agew Awi, with other towns including Chagni, Agew Gimjabet, Tilili, Adis Kidame, Azena, Zigem, Jawi, and Dangila.

According to the 2007 Census performed by the Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia (CSA), this Zone has a total population of 982,942, a 37.07% increase over the 1994 census, with 491,865 men and 491,077 women.
