South Wollo, also known as ደቡብ ወሎ, is a zone in Ethiopia’s Amhara Region. Its name derives from the old province of Wollo.
According to the Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia’s (CSA) 2007 Census, this Zone has a total population of 4,518,862, an 18.60% increase over the 1994 census, with 1,248,698 men and 1,270,164 women; with an area of 17,067.45 square kilometers, South Wollo has a population density of 147.58.
