Montgomery is one of Tasmania’s twenty land districts, on the west coast of the state. It was proclaimed as a county in 1836.
It is bordered by the Gordon River to the north-east and Macquarie Harbour to the north, and holds the west-coast mining towns and the port of Strahan.
Much of the district lies within the Southwest Conservation Area.
