Phillip

Phillip County was one of New South Wales’ original Nineteen Counties and is now one of the state’s 141 Cadastral divisions.

It encompasses the area east of Mudgee and Gulgong.

The Cudgegong River forms the southern border, and the Goulburn River forms the northern border.

Phillip County was named after Admiral Arthur Phillip, the Governor of New South Wales.

Between 1856 and 1859, the Phillip, Brisbane, and Bligh Electoral District was the area’s first electoral district.
