Geography
The Murray River runs through Cadell County and forms the state border with Victoria. Within New South Wales the county adjoins Wakool County and Townsend County to the north and west.
History
The county was named after Francis Cadell, a river navigator and entrepreneur who explored the Murray River by canvas boat in 1852, travelling about 1,300 miles (2,100 km) downstream from Swan Hill in preparation for launching a steamer service.
