Brisbane
Brisbane County was one of New South Wales’ original Nineteen Counties and is now one of the state’s 141 Cadastral divisions. Scone, Merriwa, and Murrurundi are included.
The Goulburn River forms the southern boundary, and the Hunter River forms the southern-east boundary.
The Liverpool Range area forms the northern boundary, and the Krui River forms the western boundary.
Brisbane County was named after Sir Thomas Makdougall, Governor of Brisbane from 1773 to 1860.
Between 1856 and 1859, the Phillip, Brisbane, and Bligh Electoral District was the area’s first electoral district.
